NVEC: Power should restored to all customers on Wednesday

FRANKLIN, Texas (KBTX) - Nearly 2,000 Navasota Valley Electric Cooperative customers remain without power Tuesday night following Sunday’s snowstorm.

Linemen are still working on 155 outages, but the company shared some optimistic news for residents to KBTX in the following statement:

“Our unusual weather has been joyful for some and much less joyful for others. We ask for civility toward our employees and each other. We would all like to be warm in our homes and within our normal routine. We fully understand your frustration and we are working to restore normalcy.

We have 20 crews working throughout our service area. At many locations, our crews are unable to access and assess the cause of the outage without having to cut and remove fallen trees and broken limbs that have failed under the weight of the snow. Outage restoral is much longer when we have to walk the line and carry equipment in to restore power. This isn’t an excuse to our members; we simply want to relay that the conditions are extraordinary.

NVEC restored 1,657 meters as of 8:30 pm today. We will work until 11 pm tonight and begin tomorrow at 7:30 am.

The following areas have crews working currently through 11 pm:

BUTLER- Oakwood/Buffalo- 6 NVEC and 1 contractor crew

HILLTOP- Marquez/Wealthy/Normangee- 4 NVEC and 1 contractor crew

FRANKLIN- Owensville/Petteway- 1 NVEC crew

ELLIOTT- 1 NVEC crew

SUTTON- 1 NVEC crew

The following areas will resume restoration efforts tomorrow morning:

JEWETT- Centerville- 2 NVEC and 3 MidSouth crews

JEWETT- Concord

Additionally, we’ll have more mutual aid crews/equipment coming in tomorrow morning from Heart of Texas Electric Cooperative. We estimate that power will be restored to all members tomorrow.”
